Scheduling and cancellations
Cancellations & no-shows
Please cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours before your appointment. For example, for a 4:30 p.m. Tuesday appointment, let us know by 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Rescheduling with less than 48 hours’ notice counts as a cancellation.
Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee. Arriving more than 10 minutes late may also count as a late cancellation. We keep a credit card on file to secure your appointments.
Medication refills
Patients who are stable on their medications generally receive prescriptions for 90 days or more.
Early in treatment, or while adjusting medications, expect visits at least monthly.
Send refill requests through the patient portal.
Insurance clients need a visit for refills, even for non-controlled medications.
Controlled substances are only refilled during a scheduled appointment, unless agreed on ahead of time.
Controlled substances
Benzodiazepines (such as Klonopin, Ativan or Xanax) and Z-drugs (such as Ambien, Lunesta or Sonata) aren’t prescribed during the first 3 months of treatment. After that, they’re only considered with a well-documented history of safe use, permission to consult your previous providers, and a clean record in California’s controlled substance database, and even then there’s no guarantee.
Stimulants are prescribed when there’s a clear ADHD diagnosis, other conditions have been ruled out, and several non-stimulant options (such as Strattera, Intuniv or Wellbutrin) have been tried first.
Forms, letters & disability
Forms are completed only for established patients during an existing appointment. Short-term disability may be considered for established patients in a psychiatric day program that requires time off work, at the clinician’s discretion. Long-term disability certification isn’t offered.
Forms that need evaluation and more than 10 minutes of the clinician’s time outside an appointment are billed at an hourly rate.
Confidentiality
What you share in sessions stays confidential. Information is only released without your permission in an emergency, such as a risk of harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child or elder. We won’t share anything with anyone, including your family, employer or insurer, without your signed permission.

You’re not broken. You’re not alone.
And this isn’t the end of your story, just a new chapter. Our care is rooted in science, shaped by lived experience, and delivered with humanity.
